JOHN CABOT AND HIS NEW FOUND LAND

During Tudor times,a lot of people were trying to find new lands like one man John Cabot .He had set of on May second 1497 and eventually he had come across a new found land witch is now part of Canada .

John Cabot had left from Bristol heading to India .He travelled on his boat, the Matthew, and he only had eighteen men .

When John Cabot finally reached land,he knew people had lived there because he noticed fishing nets and sticks painted red on both sides .Then he was thinkingf of leaving because of moquitoes and natives so he left.

He eventually set sail again on his way home,he had noticed some rare cod in the sea.

When he arrived home, hae came across the King to colllect his prize for discovering Canada .When he eventually spoke to the King about what he had done the King was happy but then again he wasnt so happy because Cabot didnt bring anything back .But the King did reward him 10 pounds for actually discovering Canada .

Finally Cabot returned home to Bristol on the 6th august John Cabot was never seen again after he set off on another journey.

victory for cabot

During the great Tudor times lots of brave people were exploring the world . John Cabot was one of these brave and fabulous explorers. John Cabot set sail on May the 2nd ,1497 and found the big Canada .

On the 2nd May 1497 , Cabot set sail on a boat called the Matthew . John Cabot only left with 18 men . Firstly Cabot was heading to India but accidentally discovered Canada .

a little while after John Cabot was ashore he found some signs of life like some fishing nets, snares and a stick painted red and with holes at both ends . John didn't stay long because there were masses of mosquitoes and lack of supplies .

Cabot left ashore on the 20th July .John found that around Newfoundland it was rich in cod

Finally Cabot got back to Bristol on the 6th August .Cabot did not bring spices, silk nothing.Henry VII gave him £10 this is a lot of money in them days

On Cabot's next voyage he took 200 men and five ships but no one knows if he went anywhere or if he reached anywhere . will we ever find out?...............................................

JOHN CABOT A ACCIDENT EXPLORER!!!!!

During the Tudor period, there were many famous explorers.Exploring was for fame, and money,so many people liked it.One of these explorers was John Cabot ,and he discovered something...

EXPLORE!EXPLORE!

Peoplein Tudor times as you know loved exploreing.Everyone explored then. One explorer was John Cabot. It was in 1497 John Cabot set sail on the Matthew with a crew of 18 men.John left from bristol on the 2nd of May hoping to find a new route to India

COLD ICE!!!

John and his crew sailed through rough storms, and they had to go the long way round because the short way was blocked by ice. When John arrived he fpund he was not in India, but somewhere else.John searched around and got a couple of mosquito stings{ouch!}too. After a short search John found signs of life. For instance:fishing nets were in the sea,the sea was rich with cod,and many sticks were painted red and pierced at both ends.

GOODBYE NEWFOUNDLAND!!

John sailed away from Newfoundland after a short stay. The sea was calm on the way back on the Matthew, and on the 6th of August, John arrived back in England.John was rewarded with £10 from the King and the sea rich with cod was found out.Unfourtnately it isn't rich with cod any more.

So if your ever planning on going away on a boat make sure ther's a navigator on board!!

Phillip's Plan for Bigger Empire Crushes Under English Feet

Good King Phillip II of Spain decides to attack the lucky English for two very reasonable reasons such as: The legendary fight for Catholics and Protestants, and Phillip's desire to improve our empire that is crushed.

On the 21st of July 1588, our King started the massive Armada which was first heading for Calais in France to pick up more troops, but somehow they did not turn up. The war still had to carry on though, with 140 ships, but Phillip's foolishness with just 20 war ships ready for battle made us lose.

Another reason for our loss is that the Duke of Medina Sidonia, with no experience, lead the powerful Armada. The Duke of Medina Sidonia quoted that it was not his fault.

On the 28th of July the English sent fire ships full with what we thought, explosives so now half of the Phillip's ships are now lost and wrecked. We started with 18000 men and nearly all of them are lost.
