The Brave John Cabot

During Tudor times, there was a race between the brave explorers to see who could find the new lands. One of the bravest was a man called John Cabot and he set sail on May 2nd, 1497.

He began his expedition on May 2nd and he had 18 people on board his ship was called The Matthew. He started in Bristol and was heading to India but it took him 7 weeks to get there. On May 2nd Henry VII funded John Cabot's expedition. John Cabot sailed across the Atlantic hoping to find India but ended up discovering Canada instead.

When John Cabot was ashore, he saw animal dung . John Cabot didn't stay long because the mosquitoes were a nuisance and had lack of supplies. John found fishing nets and snares at Canada.

He left on July 20th and arrived at Bristol August 6th Henry was not pleased because he didn't bring home any money and silk.

On Cabot's next voyage he had 200 people and five ships but no one knows where he went or if he reached his destination.
